Autonomous Vehicle Test Driver – Houston, TX

Location: Local in Houston, TX
Job Type: Full-Time Contract
Assignment: 12 Months
Pay: $20–$27/hour
Hours: 30–40 hours/week
Schedule: AM & PM Shifts

A major autonomous vehicle program is expanding into Houston , creating opportunities for Safety Drivers and Autonomous Vehicle Test Drivers .

Houston is becoming an important market for self-driving and robotaxi technology , with testing expected across areas including Downtown, Midtown, Galleria, Memorial Park, Rice Village, Texas Medical Center, and Montrose.

As a Safety Driver, you will help test self-driving vehicles, monitor road conditions, collect driving data, and report vehicle and road events in real time.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate autonomous vehicle test vehicles
• Monitor traffic, road conditions, and vehicle behavior
• Collect driving and vehicle data
• Assist with mapping and vehicle testing
• Perform daily vehicle safety checks
• Report road hazards and unexpected events
• Complete detailed real-time documentation
• Follow strict safety procedures
• Maintain constant attention and situational awareness
• Professionally represent the company and maintain a positive, professional image at all times
• No cell phone use or personal distractions while operating the vehicle

Requirements

• 3+ years of continuous U.S. driving experience
• Valid U.S. Driver's License with NO GAPS
• No violations on driving record
• No DUI or drug/alcohol-related driving offenses within the past 5 years
• Strong knowledge of Houston and Texas traffic regulations
• Excellent English communication skills
• Professional appearance and conduct
• Ability to represent the company in a professional manner
• Tech-savvy and comfortable using GPS, mobile apps, and data collection tools
• 45+ WPM typing speed
• Ability to pass an onsite DMV-style driving assessment
